Application for Amy Bush Bursary 2013

SANGAM, India - WAGGGS is offering Full Funding for THREE International event/experience at SANGAM World Center. GGAM is invited to select one applicant for each of the event below:

i) The 4 Week Community Programme experience from 1 to 30 October 2013. The 4-week programme offers participants a short-term volunteer experience with one of Sangam’s Community Partners while living at Sangam. All ages.  -  http://www.sangamworldcentre.org/en/programmes/cp01

ii)  Be the Change: MDG 2 in India from 23 to 29 Sept 2013. Be part of this exciting event with participants from across the globe as you visit out community partners and immerse yourself in Indian culture. Ages: 18-35 years. -   http://www.sangamworldcentre.org/en/events/20752

iii)  Be the Change: MDG 6 in India – 28 Nov to 4th Dec 2013. Relate your experiences to the Millennium Development through participatory learning. Be part of the change you want to see in the world! Ages: 18-35 years.  -   http://www.sangamworldcentre.org/en/events/20793

What the Bursary DOES NOT Cover:

Travel Cost to and from Sangam; Administration Fee (INR1570); Passport and Visa Fees; Any additional Expenses Criteria for Selection

Applicant should be a member of GGAM, have a good working knowledge of English and have the opportunity & willingness to share her experiences at Sangam as widely as possible within GGAM.

An exciting opportunity for members to receive funding to attend an International Event/experience at Sangam World Centre.

This funding is provided by way of the Amy Bush Bursary. Details concerning this Bursary and how to apply, follow:

Who Was Amy Bush

Amy Bush was an Australian trainer who worked extensively with the International Fellowship of Former Scouts and Guides (IFOFSAG) and left a generous legacy to Sangam to be used to encourage international friendship. The Bursary The Sangam Committee (now the Centre Team) established The Amy Bush Bursary in 1988.

How Many Are Awarded In 2012 we are offering:

2 Full Event Fee Bursaries for the 4 Week Community Programme experience

The 4-week programme offers participants a short-term volunteer experience with one of Sangam’s Community Partners while living at Sangam. After a two-day orientation, Tare (participants) are placed with a Sangam Community Partner to volunteer for 4 weeks. Participants in the 4-week Community Programme volunteer at the same sites as the 12-week Tare, who serve as mentors and help them to assimilate quickly to the Community Programme experience and the ins and outs of their Community Partner organization. 6 Full Event Fee Bursaries for Be the Change: MDG 6 in India - 26 Nov- 2 Dec 2012

Be part of this exciting event with participants from across the globe as you visit out community partners and immerse yourself in Indian culture. Relate your experiences to the Millennium Development Goals and the WAGGGS Global Action Theme through participatory learning. Join our Community Partners for World Aids Day initiatives and see first hand what is being done in India to advocate about this issue. Be part of the change you want to see in the world! 5 Full Event Fee Bursaries for Gifts for Change - 17 Dec- 26 Dec 2012

Member Organisation Selection

We invite each Member Organisation from the Asia Pacific Region to select one applicant for each of the opportunities.

Criteria for Selection

The following criteria should be considered by the Member Organisation when choosing applicants to send to Sangam for selection: the applicant should be within the age criteria for each of the offerings

- the applicant should be a member of their National Organisation

- the applicant should have a good working knowledge of English

- the applicant should have the opportunity and willingness to share her experiences at Sangam as widely as possible within her Member Organisation.

Sangam Selection

The Sangam Team will select the applicants from those chosen by Member Organisations to apply.

Please Note: There are other opportunities for scholarships at Sangam that are available to people in all Regions including AP Region which have been previously advertised. Applying for an Amy Bush Bursary does not exclude Member Organisation from the AP Region from applying for other available scholarships at Sangam
